an oldie, but a goodie

The story behind this beauty is not very glamorous, but the road has led to my renewed love of sewing.

We started our business with a $50 sewing machine that I purchased to make a set of curtains for my children's playroom. Eight months later (as well as hundreds of chalkboard mats, bibs, burp cloths, blankets and coffee sleeves), the sputters of the machine became too much for me and we realized it was time to purchase a new machine. We decided to give our business to a small, local sewing store, as we have been increasingly recognizing the importance of supporting other local folks! We purchased a modest machine that seemed affordable and yet was able to meet our sewing need... and four days later- IT BROKE!! Yes, you read correctly- it broke!

I marched that machine right back into that local store ready to demand something... I wasn't really sure what I was going to demand, but I was ready to put up a fight! Twenty minutes later I walked out of the store with the owner's personal sewing machine in tow on loaner, only after he gave me a full lesson, loaner bobbins, and loaner replacement needles! And let me tell you- that old girl purrs!

From this situation that could have brought discouragement and anger, quite the opposite has happened-  I have renewed my love of sewing and been reminded of this verse:

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

How in the world do these chalkboard mats work?

If I had a quarter for every time someone asked how a chalkboard mat worked, I would be a rich, rich woman! When we do a craft show, parents and children are able to pick up our chalkboard mats, try them out, and see just how ingenious these eco-friendly drawing toys really are!

Since everyone else in the world has to just believe us that these are super cool, we thought we would share a video to give a better understanding of the idea behind a chalkboard mat. Please check out this video and leave any questions you may have about how they work.

Also, feel free to browse around our Etsy shop for lots of designs that would make a unique gift for your child or a friend.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

and a great day for the market! This summer we have become a part of a community of local farmers, bakers, and artisians who wake early each Saturday morning from June- October to be apart of the North Square Farmer's Market. The market draws a diverse group of people and has exposed BAM to some amazing individuals.

Hello out there???!!!!!

Hello faithful followers!  We have been MIA in the blogosphere for a long time and I promise to get better that starting today!

A little update on what has been going on with us.  We have been busy busy busy!  We are currently waiting for sale number 200 to come through on the etsy site which is super exciting for us!  We are prepping for some big craft shows this summer.  July 9th we will be at Caledonia and August 12-13 we will be at the Leitersburg Peach Festival.  All summer long we are at the North Square Farmers Market in downtown Chambersburg and that has been a blast!  Tonight we will be participating in the 3rd First Friday event as well.

Some more posts will be coming soon!  We are excited to share new projects with you and what else has been going on with us.

Thanks so much!
